Established in 2021 Permet is a research lab and product studio building participant-owned systems for garment production. Our systems use programmable assets and consensus-driven blockchain technology to empower fabricants and verify that items are being made ethically. The fashion industry is growing exponentially - without any signs of slowing down. The apparel and luxury market reached $1.9 trillion globally in 2019 - and is expected to surpass $3 trillion in the next decade. However, the distribution of returns in the fashion industry is heavily skewed. This is because a traditional brand's business model is based around maximizing profit - by minimizing value returned to stakeholders.

Building this new system will lift up creators and crafters - which can force traditional apparel brands into an "arms race" towards ethical production by driving adoption of a new industry standard of cryptographic verification in the supply chain. The traditional system of apparel production is fundamentally exploitative and requires reinvention. We view crypto technologies and philosophies, from fractional ownership, to tokenized licenses, to smart contracts, as the best tools for this job. Traditional brands benefiting from this status quo of exploitation will never willingly give up their profits for a more ethical alternative. We have to disrupt them and build a new system from the ground up. With blockchain technology - cloud-based crowdsourced human-rights oracles and "Proof of Location" protocols can validate safe and healthy work places. Normalizing use of these human-rights oracles and verification protocols in apparel production would expose corporations for lack of "Proof of Non-Slave Labor".

Strong design teams driven by community and monetary value. More diversity, better ideas, better concepts, better curation, and more robust thinking.

The explication of the semantic framework behind the term "Permet"

The word "permet" has its origins in the French language, deriving from the verb "permettre," which can be translated as "to allow" or "to empower" in English. This term can be traced back to its Latin root, "permittere," which combines the prefix "per," meaning "through" or "completely," and "mittere," meaning "to send" or "to let go." "Permettre" encompasses the fundamental idea of granting permission or providing the means for someone to engage in a particular action or endeavor. The concept of "permettre" extends beyond merely granting permission; it embodies the notion of empowerment, offering individuals the freedom and agency to pursue their aspirations. By bestowing consent or authorization, it acknowledges the importance of autonomy and the ability to exercise one's own will. In contemporary usage, the word "permet" serves as a condensed form of "permettre," conveying the same sense of permission and empowerment. It encapsulates the idea of enabling users, allowing them to access, engage with, or utilize a certain service, feature, or resource. Whether in the context of technology, administration, or personal interactions, "permet" signifies a facilitative role, granting individuals the necessary means to accomplish their goals and navigate their desired paths.

As language evolves, words like Permet retain the essence of their origins while adapting to fit the demands of modern communication.
